– The manager must ensure that all graders and repairers are equipped with the necessary tools, skills and knowledge to allow them to succeed in their given function whilst ensuring that they are working to given quality standards and productivity levels as defined by the company. Provide feedback to graders and repairers as necessary. Check the quality of the work produced prior to submission to quality control and provide feedback and repair assistance as necessary. Make quick and right decision with respect to the borderline stones.
– Ensure that all Graders and repairers are aware of the correct use of their production and other company equipment and ensure that they are capable of using and caring for this equipment in accordance with company policy and procedure to deliver the productivity and quality of product required. Ensure person in charge is capable of identifying equipment problems and follow the appropriate procedures to ensure the resolution of these problems.
– Assess the performance of Grading staff on an ongoing basis, providing feedback to them as well as reporting to management on their performance. This will include performance against targets as well as an assessment of quality and feedback on quality-related issues.
– Ensure workplace procedures are followed at all times. Ensure that Health and safety procedures are followed at all times. Ensure that Machine operating procedures are followed at all times. Monitor all of the previous, report non-compliance where found and take corrective action to ensure that non-compliance is eliminated in a timely manner
– Ensure that procedures and policies are in place to achieve the objectives of LDC and to ensure the security of all goods and property throughout the process. To ensure that all staff are fully trained and in compliance with these procedures and policies 
– Ensure that a good working atmosphere is maintained by promoting an environment of mutual respect and by ensuring that employees and problems are handled in a fair and transparent manner. This should be part of an overall strategy to ensure that the department works efficiently whilst promoting a strong team sprit
