Job Description:

– The Product Design & Engineering Manager is responsible for the entire product innovation process at Cambodia.
– Lead the existing product design team to develop new products, complete with product literature, manufacturing documentation, and engineering reports.
– The candidate must have strong skills with the tools and processes of good product development, as well as strong communication capabilities.
– The successful applicant will manage and refine the company’s existing design processes and lead the team to become a powerhouse of new product design in the outdoor furniture, garden accessory, and garden shed market.

Key Responsibilities:

New Product Design:

• Manage the Cambodia Design & Engineering team to deliver new products and improvements to existing products in line with agreed timelines.
• Ensure accurate records of development activities are maintained and drawing revisions are managed correctly.
• Generate monthly reports for key stakeholders with updates for product status, bottlenecks, etc.
• Analyse competitor products and determine opportunities for a new product.

Product Documentation & Data:

• Ensure product and product drawing registers are maintained according to established rules.
• Oversee the development of installation and instruction manuals and brochures for products developed by the design team.
• Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure all manufacturing documentation for products is created and ready for production in accordance with established procedures.
• Provide training to team members when required to increase the knowledge and skills of all staff.

Product Testing & Engineering:

• Work with the Structural Engineering team to develop testing for new products to ensure that they meet the relevant safety and performance standards as set by legislation.
• Undertake testing and generation of test reports for review by the senior structural engineering team members and sign off.
• Maintain all testing equipment and rigs to ensure they are fully operational.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

* Essential:

– High level of English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
– Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, or related field) or Industrial Design, or equivalent practical experience.
– 5-10 years’ experience in a product design role.
– 2+ years in a supervisory/managerial role.
– Strong understanding of the Microsoft 365 suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
– Strong understanding of AutoCAD or equivalent software.
– Strong understanding of 3D modelling software (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
– Strong understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator)
